Moscow : Russian President Vladimir Putin begins today a 48-hour working visit to Cerdena, Italy, confirmed the Kremlin spokesman Alexei Gromov.
During his stay on the Mediterranean Island the Statesman will meet the leader of the coalition who won early elections in the Italian peninsula, Silvio Berlusconi.
They will tackle present and future relations between the two countries, said Gromov to the press.
Moscow and Rome signed an agreement that opens Italian internal market to Russian companies in exchange for participation in consortiums of the Mediterranean country in crude and gas extraction in the euro Asian giant.
Commerce between the two nations is around 25 billion dollars annually with emphasis in high technology, energy and investments.
