Indian men beat China in four-nations hockey tourney

Perth : The Indian men’s hockey team defeated China 3-1 in their last round robin match of the four-nations tournament here Saturday.

Though India got the better of China, they failed to qualify for Sunday’s final on goal difference. Australia and South Korea have progressed to the final, although the Koreans lost 2-3 against the hosts in another round robin match Saturday.

Tushar Khandekar opened the account for India in the 15th minute, while S.V. Sunil (51st) and Gurwinder Singh Chamdi (66th) were the other scorers. For China, striker Hu Hui Ren pulled one back in the 50th minute.

India will again play China in the third and fourth play-off match Sunday.
