By News Agency of Kashmir,
Jammu : The Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, today, concluded his two day’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, announcing various rehabilitation measures for Kashmiri pandits and refuges of 1947, however both the communities reject his announcement saying that their issues were separate.
Terming the announcement of prime minister as a big joke with the PoK refugees, Chairman SOS international a Refugee organisation, Raju Chunni said that they are going to discuss the future course of action in a meeting tomorrow. “How we can accept the package of 50 crore in 2008 as we were given 47 crore package by NDA government in 2000.
“We demand comprehensive package and if Pandits can get lum-sum amount for the properties sold in distress why a refugee can’t be given compensation for the property left in PoK at the time of partition” he said adding that it is clear disparity with the refugees.
Out of fifty crore one refugee gets rupees 416 as there are 12 lakh refugees residing in various areas of Jammu who had migrated either during partition, he added.
“Let government of India settle our issues and give us refugee status as per the international law” he said.
He said that there seem no difference between JL Nehru and Dr Manmohan Singh as both failed to solve Kashmir issue including the settlement of Refugees.
He said government of India keeps us in dark that they are getting back the other part of Kashmir, adding how long they can befool our community.
He however said that the decision seems to be after thought and the prime minister would have been told that the rally he is addressing includes refugees also.
The issues of the particular communities, PoK refugees and Kashmiri Pandit migrants, needed to be addressed with out keeping political interest. Both of them are living a miserable life in absence of their rights guaranteed under constitution of India.
“Fine that he announced a package and if the PM’s speech is minutely observed one will only find if’s and but’s which in no way are going to help a common man who had great expectations from the Prime Minister”, an employed kashmiri pandit youth told News Agency of Kashmir.
he said no doubt we are displaced but will not allow any body to play with future of the community which is almost left ignored by both centre and state governments.
The politicians must always try to bridge the gap instead they are mixing up the issues of the various communities and are creating wedge between them.
“Status of people migrated in 1947,1965 and 1972 and those displaced in 1989 have entirely different status in Jammu and Kashmir as former was the victim of war and partition while later the victim of militancy.
“The way prime minister made his mentions for Kashmiri pandits and PoK refuges have also braved resentment among the Muslims of the state who claim that they did not figure any where”, a local Muslim said.
He said that by announcing the packages on selective basis will no way help congress in coming elections. “The people of the state irrespective of community cast creed and colour want peace and employment and will no more succumb to the election stunts of the political parties” added another Jammuite.
Thought the prime minister announced that those Kashmiri Pandits who sold their property in distress and were eager to return to the valley will be given lum-sum amount of rupees 7.5 Lakh as a settlement package.
“We don’t want any economic package we want permanent settlement and investigation of the circumstances which led us to migrate from valley” said Raju a resident of Anantnag presently putting up at Jammu.
Eyes were also set on Prime ministers speech at Kishtwar where he formally inaugurated Dul Hasti power project and dedicated it to the nation people were hoping that the prestigious Power project would be handed over to the state and an official announcement would be made today.
Political experts term PM’s visit successful but an election stunt for adding vote bank to congress as both power project and Akhnoor Bridge were unofficially thrown open. (NAK)
