Gurgaon (Haryana): In a first in the country, perhaps, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will set up a cremation-cum-burial ground in Gurgaon. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians will have one address to perform the last rites of their near and dear ones.
The cremation-cum-burial ground, which will also have an organ donation chamber, will be set up in Sector 52 of Gurgaon, says a report in The Tribune.
The ground spreading over 10.5 acres will have separate exit and entry points for people of different faiths.
At the cremation part of the ground there will be 72 pyres. The completion of the ground will take nearly two years.
The cremation ground will be surrounded by green trees to prevent the smoke from the pyres from spilling out into the neighbourhood.
The ground will also have space for an electric crematorium. It will have a capacity of cremating up to four bodies at a time.
The organ donation chamber at the cremation ground will enable voluntary, on-the-spot donation of organs.
