Malappuram (Kerala): The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala in the coming elections.
In the wake of the dispute over the Indo-U.S nuclear deal, IUML has chalked out the strategy in the state committee party of the meeting held at Manjeriy on 4th August.
While there was talk of Muslims being not happy with the deal, IUML had decided to support UPA government at the centre and voted in favour of the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha last month.
BJP and CPI (M) had joined to oppose the motion which was defeated with a good margin.
The meeting was called to discuss the party’s strategies and policies for the general elections to be held next year.
IUML State president Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal presided over the meeting. Party’s other leaders who attended the meeting included general secretary E. Ahamed (Union minister at Centre), State general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, and all senior leaders, including MLAs.
