Johannesburg : The trial against the National African Congress’ president Jacob Zuma was postponed until September 12 to analyze the petition for declaring the case null, announced Judge Chris Nicholson Tuesday.
Zuma supporters considered the process a political plot to avoid progress of their chief in 2009 elections, representing ANC, and prevent him from winning the country’s presidency.
In the second day of hearing Judge Nicholson said that he will issue his decision on the case in September, in which the political leader is involved in alleged acts of corruption and fraud, all denied by the leader and his partisans.
Thousands of people gathered before Pietermaritzburg Supreme Court Monday, capital of Kwazulu-Natal province, where the trial took place backed with songs, dancing and prayers for NAC leader.
When Zuma left the court he shared with demonstrators, most of them youngsters, and certainly told them that he was able to die for his country; he later danced and sang a song of the time of struggle against the racist regime of Apartheid.
The Congress President, who is one of the favorite for the presidency in South Africa, asserted that he is ready to prove his innocence.
