Urumqi (China) : At least two people were killed early Sunday in a series of explosions in Kuqa county in China’s northwestern region of Xinjiang Uygur, a witness said.
The number of injured and the cause of the blasts are unknown. The witness said the toll could increase.
The explosions occurred between 3.20 a.m. and 4.00 a.m. in downtown Kuqa in Xinjiang. Gunshots were also heard after the blasts, the witness said.
The police is investigating the case.
Kuqa is the most populous county of the Aksu prefecture, with a population of 400,000.
