Kolkata : At least 30 students were injured, half of them seriously, when a newly built school building collapsed in a village in West Bengal during Independence Day celebrations Friday, police said.
The incident took place in Panchanandapur in Malda district, some 360 km from here.
According a news channel, at least 30 students were injured when the ceiling and walls of the building of Nayabazar High School crashed at 8.30 a.m. while Independence Day celebrations were on.
“Fifteen of the 30 students were seriously injured and hospitalised,” an official at the Malda police control room said.
