Atwal 35th at Xerox Classic golf

By IANS,

Rochester (New York) : Arjun Atwal, fighting to get into the top-25 of the Nationwide Money list to ensure a full card in the PGA Tour next season, fired a modest one-under 69 to be tied for the 35th place after the first round of the Nationwide Tour’s Xerox Classic.

Atwal is five strokes behind the first round leader, American Bob May.

Atwal birdied the second, third, sixth and 11th and bogeyed the fourth, 13th and 18th.

Atwal, once close to top-10 on the Money List, is currently 28th and needs some good results to make his bid for top-25.

May birdied the final hole for a 6-under-par 64 and a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the $600,000 event. Dave Schulz is alone in second spot, one shot back.
