By NNN-APP,

Islamabad : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said there will be a major reshuffle in the federal cabinet after the presidential elections.

Talking to reporters at Parliament House on Tuesday, he said the cabinet was not expanded as the resignations of PML-N ministers were not accepted.

The Prime Minister said it was because of the joint struggle and cooperation of all democratic forces including PML(N), that President Musharraf, who was the biggest hurdle in the way of democracy, resigned.

He said with the departure of the former President, 90 percent democracy has been restored and the remaining 10 percent would be restored with the reinstatement of all deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

To a question he said after restoration of the judges, they would request PML(N) to come back into the folds of the alliance.

Prime Minister Gilani said the PPP had good working relationship with the PML(N) and the two parties had agreed for repeal of 17th amendment in the constitution.

He said the two parties also stand for independence of judiciary, strengthening of the institutions and supremacy of the parliament.

The Prime Minister said the parliament would decide about the fate of 17th amendment in the constitution which the PPP has never accepted.

About possibility of cooperation with PML(Q), he said nothing is final in the politics.

Regarding MQM, he said the PPP has coalition arrangement with them in Sindh.

Earlier, the Prime Minister gave a cheque of Rs 500,000 to the father of a Christian boy murdered in Islamabad.

He said the government would provide full security to minorities and their rights would be protected.

He promised provision of electricity, gas and water to the slum areas of the capital.
