Maoists kill four in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Maoist guerrillas killed four people from two villages in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, the police said Saturday.

According to the police, three people from Haladih-Betiatand village of Giridih district were killed Friday night. Giridih is about 230 km from here.

The trio, who were Muslims, were abducted from their home by the activists of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist). They were taken to a jungle where they were shot dead.

Police officials said that the three were killed as the Maoist rebels suspected them to be police informers.

The second incident took place in Gopilo village of the same district.

The CPI-Maoist activists abducted Keshav Yadava from his home. His dead body was found Saturday morning in a jungle area. His throat was slit.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state. In last seven years over 1,300 people, including civilians and Maoist rebels, have been killed.
