Cairo : Iranian Shura Council Speaker Ghulam Haddad said Saturday that his meetings with top Egyptian officials were “positive and cordial” and aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters following his departure from Cairo, he said the visit, which comes after 30 years of severed ties, came to improve relations between the two countries.
“Our meetings with Egyptian officials took place in a cordial atmosphere, which indicated readiness for more cooperation between the two sides … we can say that this visit has had a positive impact and comes in line with efforts to normalize relations,” he said.
During his visit, Haddad took part in the Fifth Session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Members. He also met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
