Keonjhar (Orissa) : A four-year-old boy died and his two siblings were critically ill Tuesday after they ate poisonous biscuits that were meant to kill rats at their home in Orissa’s Keonjhar district.
The three brothers – Jalia Munda, 4, Gurubari Munda, 2, and Sangra Munda, 5 – ate the biscuits at their house in Karanjabati village, some 150 km from here, Sunaram Munda, the children’s father, told IANS.
The biscuits were kept out the previous night to kill rats but the kids accidentally ate them in the morning. They were rushed to the nearby government hospital in the sub-divisional headquarters of Anandpur.
Jalia died before reaching hospital. The other two are undergoing treatment and are critical, said Udayanath Behera, a doctor at the hospital.
