New Delhi : The Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom arrived here Wednesday on a seven-day state visit.
He will participate in the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit Thursday, as the head of one of the first countries to be affected by climate change.
As a low-lying chain of islands, Maldives is faced by the threat of rising sea levels due to global warming.
The operational part of his visit will take place Feb 11, when he holds talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and meets with other Indian leaders. President Pratibha Patil will hold a state banquet in his honour Monday evening.
