Moscow : Russia gives great importance to the Munich Forum, a platform to demolish the US-NATO monopoly in its vision for a collective system of global security, affirmed on Saturday a parliamentarian source.
The Russian delegation at the 44th International Conference will defend the principles formulated by President Vladimir Putin at the recent Council of State, emphasized the chief of the Duma Committee for international affairs Kontatin Kosachev.
“We are open to talks,” noted Kosachev, but said “we reject clashes but will strongly defend nationwide interests forever and anywhere.”
During an extraordinary session of the Council of State held at the Kremlin on Friday Putin said that Russia will have an appropriate response to the new challenges and threats but won’t allow devastating clashes for the economic-social development of the country.
The leader rejected NATO’s extension plans and proximity of its military infrastructure to the Russian borders.
He reminded of the settling of new military bases from the western bloc in Rumania and Bulgaria along with the expected deployment of US antimissile shield in Poland and Czech Republic.
Putin considered that Russia should firmly keep its principles and resistance and not to allow a costly confrontation.
