Baghdatis gets wildcard in Rotterdam Open

By Xinhua

Brussels : Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus has been handed the third and final wildcard in the Rotterdam Open, the organisers have said.

Tournament director and former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek said Tuesday that he made the call after discussions with Baghadatis, who last year made a late and disputed withdrawal from the event.

The tournament that starts next week was plagued by pullouts in 2007.

However, this year the event looks to have overcome the problem, with world NO. 2 Rafael Nadal, Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray heading the field.

Baghdatis, ranked 17th in the world, won his last event a year ago in Zagreb.
