Berlin : Cameroon’s national football team Otto Pfister of Germany has said that he would continue to coach the team and try to lead the nation to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 70-year-old German, who had hinted at quitting after Cameroon’s 1-0 loss to Egypt in Sunday’s African Nations Cup final in Ghana, confirmed to the German football magazine Kicker Tuesday that he would be staying with the African team.

“I am going on holiday for three weeks and then we go on. We have friendly matches in the next month and then the World Cup qualifiers begin at the end of May,” Pfister said.

The final defeat against Egypt was Pfister’s second African Nations Cup final loss, the first time being in 1992 when he was in charge of Ghana who lost on penalties to Cote d’Ivoire in Senegal.

“I have to accept it, I cannot change it. Life goes on,” he said. “The whole team was really down after the loss but after two, three hours everyone was laughing again.”
