Pakistan Braces Election Security

Islamabad : The government of Pakistan deploys soldiers and the paramilitary Guards at sensitive places nation wide to secure the up coming general elections.

The 200 million populace Pakistan is being swept by waves of attacks, kidnappings, suicide attacks and shootings, plus political unrest, all of which stand as backdrop for the February 18 elections of legislators and a president.

The prevailing violence is being blamed to the Taliban and Al Qaeda so Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz Khan warned that everyone trying to boycott or disturb the polls will receive due treatment.

Pre-election violence has spread rumors on security during the polls, the politicians have adopted a low profile since Benazir Bhutto’s murder and the people are even afraid to go shopping while the businessmen complain of the lag.
