Adelaide : Irfan Pathan with his four for 41 Sunday registered his best figures against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
Irfan’s previous figure of three for 51 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) January 22, 2004 was his best against the world champions.
Pathan’s figures are the best by an Indian bowler against Australia at Adelaide. His figures are also the best by an Indian speedster at Adelaide, bettering Kapil Dev’s four for 54 against West Indies Dec 14, 1991.
Anil Kumble’s four for 40 against Pakistan Jan 25, 2000 are the best by an Indian bowler at Adelaide.
Pathan is now the seventh Indian bowler to claim four or more wickets against Australia in the country, joining Ajit Agarkar, Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Ishant Sharma and Laxmipathy Balaji.
