New Delhi : A suspected insurgent has been killed in an encounter with the security forces in Imphal East district of Indias Northeastern state of Manipur. The encounter took place at Kairang in Imphal East district late last night, news agency Press Trust of India reported Monday. The rebel has been identified as Md Jakub. One .32 revolver was recovered from the encounter site, the news agency said, quoting a Manipur police official. Manipur is home to more than 20 insurgent groups whose demand ranges from secessionism to separatism.
