BEML displays new technology driven products at DEFEXPO 2008

New Delhi : Land and ground support equipments major Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has displayed an array of technology-driven products at the Defence Exposition (DEFEXPO) 2008 here.

From its wide range of products, the company displayed a command post vehicle, BEML-Tatra driving simulator, armoured recovery vehicle, aircraft-towing tractor and weapon loading system (BHIMA) at the Feb 16-19 DEFEXPO at Pragati Maidan.

The command post vehicle is surveillance and reconnaissance vehicle system built on the BEML-Tatra (8X8) vehicle that can access and function in difficult terrain and is useful for border security purposes. The specialized vehicle will be in operation along with support battalions of mechanized infantry and, therefore, has the combined essential operational requisites of mobility, protection and communication.

The vehicle has the capacity to wade through water up to 1,400 mm and can be equipped with electronic imaging, communication and gun mounting tools.

The company also displayed the latest BEML-Tatra driving simulator to train drivers by phasing the training through increasing level of complexity in all kinds of terrain with varying visibility and weather conditions. The simulator facilitates in imparting various levels of training from beginners to advanced users.

The land and ground support equipments giant has signed a MoU With Canada’s General Dynamics to manufacture four wheeled armoured patrol vehicle and with Britain’s WFEL to produce 46 meters of dry support bridges for the Indian Army.

BHEL has paid its employees 40 percent interim dividend during the financial year 2007-2008 and has a target of 27.56 billion for this financial year.
