Beirut : Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday vowed to destroy Israel’s army if it invaded southern Lebanon, local Naharnet news website reported.
Nasrallah voiced the warning while addressing a rally in remembrance of Hezbollah’s senior commander Imad Moughniyah in southern Beirut.
“We will fight as we have never fought before, confronting the Israeli army with of a type of combat it has never before experienced,” Nasrallah was quoted as saying.
He stressed that Israel would cease to exist, saying “this is inevitable, it is divine law.”
The Hezbollah chief said that Israel’s existence is “temporary and cannot persist.”
Nasrallah gave his speech by video link and appeared on giant screens at the rally venue.
He, meanwhile, announced that the Syrian authorities are investigating the Feb. 12 assassination of Moughniyah, which Nasrallah had blamed Israel for.
Moughniyah, 45, known as Hajj Radwan, had been in hiding for years. He was indicted in the U.S. for the 1985 hijacking of a TWA airliner in which a Navy diver died.
