Washington : The United States will announce a new aid plan for the West Bank and Gaza next week to ease the humanitarian crisis there, U.S. officials said on Friday.
The aid will be channeled through the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees, which handles U.S. and other assistance for food, health, education and other areas, according to U.S. officials.
The Bush administration has asked the Congress to approve 400 million dollars in economic aid for the Palestinians in the 2007-2008 budget which began on Oct. 1 last year.
The United States hosted the Middle East peace conference in Annapolis, Maryland late last month to re-launch the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. Nearly 50 countries and international organizations attended the conference.
