Sharif to support Bhuttos party without being part of cabinet

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (KUNA) Pakistans second largest political party Tuesday announced it would support slain Benazir Bhuttos party, the main winner of Feb 18th elections, without becoming part of the cabinet as it would require oath-taking from President Musharraf under his amended constitution.
Addressing a news conference here, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) central leader, Chauhdary Nisar, said that the party would extend unconditional support to the PPP government in the centre but it would not become a part of the cabinet as the cabinet members would have to take oath from the President under the amended constitution and PML-N was against this. He said the PML-N parliamentarians would take oath in the National Assembly under the 1973 constitution and not under any “mutilated form” of the constitution.
“PML-N is enjoying massive support after February 18 elections and would support PPP for six months in the centre to solve all issues,” he said and added that the party would continue its support to the PPP, if needed, for the development of the country.
“We are going to support the PPP without demanding any ministry. The PML-N is only seeking a free judiciary in the country,” he said.
He said the party also had reservations about Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by Benazir widower Asif Ali Zardari, alliance with pro-Musharraf MQM party in the Southern Sindh province.
The party has conveyed its concerns to the PPP leadership but we decided not to create problems for PPP to form the government in the center if it wants MQM support, he added.
He also reiterated Nawaz Sharifs demand for President Pervez Musharraf to resign and respect the verdict of the masses. A demand, being placed by PML-N only not PPP, has been rejected by the Presidential camp. PML-N and PPP were the main winners of Feb 18th elections, which turned former rivals into future partners.
