Brisbane/New Delhi : Australian opener Matthew Hayden Tuesday called Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh an “obnoxious little weed”, continuing the bitter relations between the two teams in the high-profile cricket series Down Under.
The Indian board, however, seemed to be unaware of this issue. “We are unaware of this issue and can’t comment on it. We can only take any action after we come to know what has happened,” board secretary Niranjan Shah told IANS.
The two sides meet in the best of three one-day final series starting Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) following two months of sporting clash between the players.
“It’s been a bit of a long battle with Harbhajan,” Hayden was quoted as saying in a Brisbane radio station, according to News Limited newspapers.
“The first time I ever met him he was the same little obnoxious weed that he is now. His record speaks for itself in cricket. There is a certain line that you can kind of go to and then you know where you push it and he just pushes it all the time,” Hayden said.
“That’s why he has been charged more than anyone that’s ever played in the history of cricket,” he added.
