Gaza : At least ten Palestinians were killed, among them children, and more than 20 others were wounded in an Israeli incursion into the eastern outskirts of Jabaliya and Gaza City early Saturday.
Palestinian witnesses said a large number of Israeli tanks and military machinery executed an incursion into the eastern parts of the town of Jabaliya, as well as into Tufah district, eastern Gaza City.
The incursion took place under the cover of heavy fire, and missiles were launched at citizens and activists standing up to the Israeli troops at both locations.
They added that ten Palestinians were killed, including two children — siblings — as well as a number of activists belonging to different factions. Some 20 others were wounded, and the casualty toll is expected to rise.
Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, said in a statement that one of its activists was killed in the attack, while medical sources identified one of the victims as a member of Eziddin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
Yesterday, Israeli had said it was boosting its presence in the northern and eastern parts of Gaza Strip in preparation for a land operation.
