Tehran : Iran is ready to expand economic cooperation with Iraq, Minister of Economy Davoud Danesh-Ja’fari said here Thursday.
“Promotion of trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Iraq will lead to welfare of the two nations,” the minister said while addressing a conference on opportunities and challenges before oil, gas and petrochemical industries of Iran and Iraq, IRNA reported.
Ja’fari said that Iran and Iraq, which possess rich oil and gas resources, could meet a large part of the world’s demand for fossil fuel.
“Tehran is ready to transfer its technical and engineering know-how in oil, gas and petrochemical industries to Iraq,” he said, and added that Iranian scientists have acquired technology to prospect and produce gas during recent years.
“Bolstering economic cooperation with Iraq is on Iran’s agenda”, the minister said.
