Bolivia, Spain Analyze Bilateral Ties

Madrid : Foreign Relations Ministers from Bolivia, David Choquehuanca and Spain, Miguel Angel Moratinos, analyzed here on Monday the state of bilateral ties, with emphasis on migration and investments.

The South American foreign minister told his host about the current situation in Bolivia which has prompted the European tour that concluded in Madrid and also included Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium and Holland.

Dealing with migration, Spain confirmed opening of a new consulate in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and strengthening of the one existing in La Paz to pay attention to emigrants that travel to Spain.

The Bolivian community in the European country HAS reached about 300,000 people, according to estimates gathered in this capital.

Regarding investments, Moratinos referred to the importance of an agreement for its protection and promotion amidst a climate of confidence and stable legal bases.

In his tour throughout Europe Choquehuanca mainly dealt with current changes, including nationalization of the natural resources and establishment of new relations with hydrocarbon foreign enterprises, some of them from Spain.

Other aspects are the achievements in the reduction of foreign debt, rise of monetary reserves and other aspects dealing with the national economy.

The Bolivian foreign minister will attend on Tuesday the First Forum of the so-called Alliance of Civilizations, an Spanish project aimed at promoting talks among different cultures’ representatives.
