Mumbai : Hong Kong’s Dragon Air will launch services to India from May with a daily flight to Bangalore, the IT hub in southern India.
The subsidiary of Hong Kong’s carrier Cathay Pacific, Dragon Air will operate an Airbus A330-300 aircraft offering a two-class configuration.
“We are excited at the prospects of our maiden step into the huge Indian market. The new service will open up new opportunities for people travelling between Hong Kong and the thriving southern regions of India,” said Kenny Tang, Dragon Air’s CEO, here Wednesday.
Bangalore will be the seventh international destination of Dragon Air after it became a part of Cathay Pacific Group in September 2006.
In the past year Dragon Air has launched scheduled services to Phuket in Thailand, Busan in South Korea, Fukuoka and Sendai in Japan, Kathmandu in Nepal and a daily charter service to Taichung in Taiwan.
“The daily service to Bangalore will offer travellers Dragon Air’s extensive network of destinations in mainland China as well as the Cathay Pacific’s international network,” Tang said.
