Jammu : Minster of Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma called upon the people to take a pledge to uphold State’s integrity and its varied culture, faith and ethnicity which had given Jammu and Kashmir a unique identity of unity in diversity.
He said this while addressing a largely attended public meeting today at Gole Panjpeer after unfurling national flag as a part of Republic Day celebrations.
Pt. Ji said the government is fully aware about the people’s problems and has taken concerted steps to address these. He said dream of Khushal Jammu and Kashmir could only be achieved by ensuring complete peace and progress. He said Azad led government’s attention was focused on economic reconstruction of State and providing basic amenities to the people.
Pt. Ji sought people’s cooperation of transforming the State into progress and prosperity. He made a special mention of the liberal assistance provided by the central government to the State for meeting its development needs and expanding public utility services.
The Minister said that last two years of Azad led government were revolutionary in so far as infrastructure development in the state was concerned, adding that areas neglected for decades are now witnessing all round development. He said a new work culture was born and nurtured in the State and hundreds of mega projects are being constructed on fast track. He said the sectors of education, health, water, roads and power witnessed a phenomenal progress in terms of infrastructure building and upgradation.
“Our government has set out a goal for providing clean, transparent and corruption free dispensation to the people of State”, Pt. Ji maintained and said government is determined to carry forward this agenda. He appreciated people’s whole hearted cooperation against the war of corruption.
He said that government not only fulfilled the commitments made with the electorates’ in common minimum programme but went beyond it. He said Wazir Commission had recommended only four district but Azad led government setup eight new district, three sub-divisions and twelve tehsil for equal development of all the areas of the State adding to provide quality education to the students besides better health care facilities to the people at their door steps a net of educational and health institutions have been set up across the State.
Responding to the local demands of Gole Panjpeer area, the Minister assured that all their genuine demands would be fulfilled at the earliest. He said a community hall would be constructed in the area besides the educational institutions and health institutions would be upgraded and matador service from Jammu city to Panjpeer regularized and sewerage plant, renovation of Shamshan Ghat road would also be taken up at the earliest.
He cautioned the people to be aware against the misdeeds of mischievous elements who use the innocent people for their vested interests and bring hurdles in development process of the state.
On the occasion, senior Congress leaders also addressed the gathering and highlighted the achievements registered under various sectors by Azad led government during last two years for the welfare of the people of the State.
The school children presented a colour full cultural programme depicting on communal harmony, amity and integrity on the occasion which were liked by the audience.
