Rome : Italian President Girogio Napolitano resumed consultation rounds on Monday aimed at seeking a solution to the political crisis yield in the country after the government’s Chief Romano Prodi resigned.
Napolitano met North league leader Humberto Bossi and other leaders of the group on Monday, associated to the center-right coalition of ex Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
The meetings of the Chief of State with leaders from the 17 groups represented in the Chamber of deputies and the senate will last until Tuesday and its decision is expected in two days.
The Republic’s President could appoint a transitional government if an agreement between parties is achieved, which is Prodi’s alliance main option.
Napolitano has not longer achieved consensus with the center-right group that expect to hold elections.
Berlusconi, Italian richest man and main opposition figure, threatened to hold mass streets protests if the State chief does not call for elections, reported some country’s newspaper.
Most of the Italians back center-right group, according to polls published this weekend by Corriere della Sera daily.
