Dubai : The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has strongly condemned the suicide attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul that killed 44 people including four Indians.
In a statement issued Tuesday, OIC secretary general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu lamented the continuing attacks on innocents and said such “criminal acts” ran counter to the teachings of Islam, the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Defence Attache in the Indian embassy Brigadier R.D. Mehta, Political and Information Counsellor V. Venkateswara Rao and two ITBP personnel, Ajai Pathania and Roop Singh, were among 44 killed when a suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into the Indian embassy gate in Kabul Monday.
Calling upon the authorities to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice, the OIC secretary general conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Afghanistan.
Reaffirming the solidarity of the OIC with Afghanistan in its struggle against all forms of extremism and terrorism, Ihsanoglu urged the people of Afghanistan to support the government to bring an end to the cycle of violence in the country.
OIC, which has a permanent delegation to the UN, has 57 member states from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkan, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.
