India seeks security cooperation from B’desh to tame terrorism

New Delhi,IRNA ,India will seek enhanced security cooperation from Bangladesh to combat terrorism and press for the extradition of some wanted criminals during the forthcoming foreign secretary level talks between the two sides.

The Indian High Commissioner Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty disclosed this while talking to newsmen in Dhaka Thursday after a meeting with foreign adviser of the interim government Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, All India Radio (AIR) report said.

The envoy said India in the past several months extradited several wanted gangsters and criminals who had taken refuge mostly in West Bengal as a goodwill gesture and we feel that we also need to get back some people from Bangladesh.

Referring to a case of separatist ULFA leader Anup Chetia now detained in a Bangladeshi jail since 2000 he said there are many more such elements hiding in that country.
