Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh): The state has already in place a welfare scheme for poor and divorced Muslim women but due to lack of awareness about the scheme, its funds are returned to the government.

The authorities of the state Wakf Board have informed to the Public Welfare Society, an NGO, about the scheme which constitutes a monthly maintenance allowances for poor and divorced Muslim women. However, lack of education, which is also a major cause for divorce cases, is not allowing Muslims to benefit from the scheme.

With an aim to help the poor divorced Muslim women on humanitarian ground, the Society has decided to invest its own resources to help them. The Society has advised such women to contact its chairperson Mumtaz Begum at phone numbers 09885149391 or 04065185544 during day hours. The service will be offered free of cost.
