Shimla : Leading cement manufacturer ACC Ltd will put polluting gases to positive uses at its plant in Himachal Pradesh to combat climatic change, a senior company official said here.
ACC will utilise the waste exhaust kiln gases as raw material for generating electricity at its plant in Barmana in Bilaspur district, 110 kilometres from Shimla, company vice president Arun Mahajan told IANS.
“We have identified electricity potential of about four megawatt from the kiln gases and the potential will increase with the expansion of the plant,” Mahajan said.
When implemented, the project would not only preserve the surrounding environment from pollution but also generate power that can be utilised for cement production, he added.
