Himachal launches district level weather advisories

By IANS,

Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh government Sunday launched district-level agromatic advisory services.

Under this scheme, the Himachal Meteorological Department has launched a programme to provide weather-related information to the farmers in the state.

“The information would be provided to the farmers twice a week at the district level so that they can decide the kind of crop they should go in for,” department director Manmohan Singh said.

The scheme would be run in association with various universities. The weather department would provide forecast of rainfall, minimum/maximum temperature and wind speed to these universities every Tuesday and Friday. After analysing the data, the universities would educate farmers at micro level.
