IAEA Chief: Agency can confirm Iran’s nuclear activity direction

Vienna : International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief in a seasonal meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors here Monday said the agency can confirm Iran’s nuclear activity direction.

Speaking in the opening meeting of Board of Governors, ElBaradei also expressed sorrow for not advancing in a number of issues like alleged studies.

ElBaradei said, “Iran had no desire to discuss the issue, but finally expressed its agreement with considering the issue.” IAEA chief added, “Iran still says has no military program on its nuclear activity and says document related to alleged studies are forged.”

He also reminded that he had received a large part of the document related to the alleged studies through e-mail and was not authorized to lend a copy of them to Iran.

ElBaradei added, “Publication of the documents can help the agency to advance its research clearly.”
He claimed the agency has not received information on key issues, except document on metal uranium, but also added the agency has not found any evidence on using nuclear materials as it has been said in the alleged studies.

Iran, as a responsible member in Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is completely committed to its international obligations in the field of peaceful nuclear program and cooperates with the agency closely.

Finally, the IAEA chief expressed hope that in the near future suitable atmosphere provide a ground for beginning talks between Iran and related sides in the issue.
