Crucial talks between Gujjar leaders and Rajasthan state govt begins

By NNN-PTI,

Jaipur : The crucial talks between Gujjars leaders and the Rajasthan state government, stalled following preconditions set by the agitators, started here today to find ways to resolve the 22-day-old stir.

A 28-member delegation of the Gurjar Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti, spearheading the agitation for Scheduled Tribe status, is being led by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, an NCP MLA from Delhi, officials said.

Samiti chief Kirori Singh Bainsla, who nominated the Gujjar delegation, is not attending the parleys and is camping with his supporter in Bharatpur’s Karwadi-Pilupura area, the nerve centre of the agitation.

The nine-member Rajasthan state government team includes four ministers–L N Dave, Sanwar Lal Jat, Nathu Singh Gujjar and Nathu Singh Gujjar, BJP MP Ram Das Agarwal and the state’s chief interlocuter S N Thanvi.

Preliminary talks were held in Bayana in Bharatpur on Monday but Bainsla put the precondition of release of 25 women arrested for damaging rail track in Dausa district last week for the talks to be held in Jaipur. The women were granted bail by a Dausa sessions court yesterday.
