Lucknow : Two people were arrested Monday carrying 2,400 detonators in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, police said.
“The two were arrested during a routine vehicle checking drive. The duo, who were on a motorcycle, tried to escape when the police asked them to halt to check their vehicle’s registration papers and other documents,” police officer Suresh Kumar told IANS.
Chandauli district is 400 km from the state capital Lucknow.
The detonators were manufactured in Andhra Pradesh. “We are interrogating the duo to ascertain their intention,” he added.
On Friday, Government Railway Police recovered an abandoned bag with over 3,000 electric detonators at Mughalsarai railway station.
