New Delhi: The Delhi government will provide computers to madrasas in the national capital so that students of madrasas may move ahead in the race of employment.
This announcement was made by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit while addressing a conference of All India Jamiatul Hawariyyeen.
She said contemporary education in madrasas is necessary along with the religious education so that the youth may be able to face the challenges of our time, and the government is providing computers to madrasas with this objective in sight.
The Chief Minister said the poverty is found among the believers of all religions, and for the welfare of those poor men, the government is running several projects. She mentioned the low-cost housing scheme of the Government of Delhi, and said that the poor Muslims can also benefit from the scheme.
She said that the reasonable demands of the Dhobi (washer men) society will be given all due considerations and the government will offer them all the help they need.
Emphasizing the importance of education, Delhi Wakf Board Chairman, Chaudhary Mateen Ahmad said progress is impossible without receiving education.
Saying that the demands of Muslim Dhobi Samaj are justified, he said that the facilities which are available to Hindu Dhobis must be also extended to Muslim Dhobis.
He said that if the Hindu Dhobis can be included in the list of ST (scheduled tribes), why Muslim Dhobis should be deprived of it.
