New Delhi : In a major success, Sri Lankan security forces have killed 18 cadres of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and captured rebel areas in the north-western Mannar district.
“Soldiers in the Mannar front yesterday captured three sq kms of the area held by the LTTE,” the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said in a statement in Colombo Wednesday.
At least 18 LTTE rebels were killed and six injured in the attack, the ministry said.
LTTE is yet to react to this incident.
