Gaza : Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered shutdown of all border crossings with Gaza Strip for Wednesday.
Barak explained, in a statement he made late on Tuesday, that this decision comes in response to “the Palestinian missile attacks into southern Israel, injuring four people.” The Israeli radio reported this morning, “Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert held last night urgent talks with Barak to agree on response to this attack that was claimed by the Islamic Jihad movement.” Israel had re-opened last Sunday the Sufa and Nahal Oz crossings, allowing food and fuel into the Palestinian areas.
Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad in Palestine had claimed yesterday its responsibility for launching three rockets towards southern Israel.
“The attack comes in response to the killing of one of its leaders, north the West Bank in his home yesterday,” an Islamic Jihad statement said.
