Bhopal : The Hindi edition of the seventh book in the Harry Potter series “Harry Potter Aur Maut Ke Tohafe” (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow) was released here Friday.
“The quality and look of the Hindi edition is at par with international standards,” said Vikas Rakheja, managing director of Manjul Publishing House that has been publishing the Indian language editions of the Harry Potter books in India.
The seventh book, having 724 pages, has been translated into Hindi by Sudhir Dixit and edited by Rajeev Agnihotri, Rakheja told IANS.
Children all over the world waited with baited breath to grab their copies, forming serpentine queues outside bookstores when the English edition was released in July 2007.
The last English volume smashed all sales records set by earlier volumes and has sold around 11 million copies worldwide. The sales of all Harry Potter books combined together have crossed 40 million copies.
All the seven volumes in Hindi will be available in a boxed set from July this year.
Rakheja added that a lot of die-hard Harry Potter fans in India, who have read all the English books in the series, now look at making the Hindi editions a part of their collection.
There is also considerable interest from collectors internationally, who, though unable to read Hindi, are nonetheless ordering them just for their collection, he said.
