Thai PM repeats no cabinet reshuffle

By Xinhua,

Bangkok : Thailand’s Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej on Sunday denied press speculation that he intended to announce a major reshuffle of his nearly five-month-old government.

Speaking during his weekly TV and radio address “Speaking to the People in Samak’s Style”, the premier expressed confidence that his government would be in office for a long time in the future.

His remarks followed last week’s censure against him and seven other ministers, all of whom easily survived a vote.

Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama, one of the seven ministers who were grilled in the parliament, said it is up to the prime minister to reshuffle the cabinet. He added that members of the People Power Party (PPP) headed by Samak and which forms the core of the coalition government, have not discussed a cabinet reshuffle.
