One injured in Maoist violence

Bhubaneswar : A policeman was critically injured in a gunfight with Maoist guerrillas in Orissa’s Malkangri district, police said Wednesday.

The Maoists attacked a Special Operation Group (SOG) Tuesday evening when it was combing the forests near Biliguda, Urbelguda and Kandapali villages, about 720 km from here, a police officer said here. The battle lasted about three hours.

Rabindra Patra, a 24-year-old policeman, was injured. The police recovered Maoist uniforms and literature as well as food from the site.
