Mosco : Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday said his country desires to seek mutual understanding with the US.
Putin made the remarks during a meeting with US Ambassador to Russia William Burns, who is wrapping up his mission, Interfax news agency reported.
“In bilateral terms, we have scored successes in trade and economic relations, although some issues here require special attention, and we have disagreements on some of them,” Putin was quoted as saying.
“It is important that in this sphere, too, we have the desire to seek mutual understanding,” the outgoing president said.
Putin, 55, is to leave office after his successor Dmitry Medvedev’s inauguration on May 7.
Medvedev, 42, who was publicly supported by Putin, had a landslide win in Sunday’s presidential election.
