London : Anup Sridhar went down fighting in a thrilling three-setter against top seed Lin Dan in the first round of Yonex All-England Open Badminton here Wednesday.
Sridhar took the first game but Dan came back strongly to prevail 16-21, 21-8, 21-11 and advance to the second round.
Other Indian challengers in men’s singles Arvind Bhat and Chetan Anand faded away in the qualifiers.
In women’s singles, Saina Nehwal will take Yu Hirayama of Japan in the first round.
In women’s doubles, Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian will meet top seed Yili Wei and Yawen Zhang of China in the first round.
