Tehran : Nicaragua will develop an ambitious energy project with financial and technical collaboration from Iran, Managua’s Energy and Mines Minister Emilio Rappacciolii announced.
The official informed that by 2011 a large hydroelectric power plant to be built with an almost 200-million-dollar Iranian investment will be finished.
Last August the Iranian government announced it will finance several mega projects including power generation, agriculture and ports.
This week, Iran approved a 231-million-dollar investment to build water reservoirs and power plants in Nicaragua.
Managua is planning to generate 616 megawatts, beginning with a 70-MW project in the Autonomous North Atlantic North Region which will cost 125 million dollars, official sources informed.
