Gaza : A top leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza Mahmoud al-Zahar called Saturday on rival Fatah movement of President Mahmoud Abbas for unconditioned dialogue.
“Hamas is extending its hands for a comprehensive dialogue, but not a dialogue according to the conditions of President Abbas, because no one can accept his conditions,” said al-Zahar.
Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip by force in mid June last year and ousted President Abbas Fatah movement and his security forces. Abbas considered what Hamas has done as “a coup against his legitimacy.”
Abbas refused to resume dialogue with Hamas unless it regret what its militias did in Gaza, and bring everything was taken back to his authority, and they go for early presidential and legislative elections.
“Let’s go for a national dialogue, and I promise you that you find all demands that reinforce right, and we will never allow for the previous ill situation to return back,” said al-Zahar.
“Everything can be negotiated on the table,” he added.
Al-Zahar had also called on Egypt for serious talks on reopening Rafah border crossings between Gaza Strip and Egypt
, adding “the crossing should be controlled only by Egypt and the Palestinians.”
