Islamabad : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would work for socio economic empowerment of women and safeguarding their rights.
Secretary Information PPP Sindh, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, talking to APP lauded the services and efforts of former Prime Minister late Benazir Bhutto for launching Lady Health Workers Programme in which 100,000 female workers were inducted and provided training for the promotion of affordable and better health facilities for the people specially the common man.
The credit of appointing first female judge for dispensation of speedy and equitable justice to the women in the country also goes to former Prime Minister Banazir Bhutto, she remarked.
“We will follow her footprints and work for safeguarding women rights”, she remarked.
Dr. Fehmida Mirza who was elected as MNA for the third time in the general elections, said that the new government would face challenges like terrorism and PPP would take along all political parties to combat the scourge of terrorism.
She said that an important scheme as a part of the party manifesto, would be initiated for the youth employment and under the programme graduates would be inducted in different government departments for 2 years and sufficient stipend would be provided to them in order to enable them create better opportunities in their careers by gaining experience in these departments.
Commenting on the women issues, she said their representation would be enhanced in diverse fields to empower them in accordance with PPP’s manifesto.
However, she said, proper legislation would be initiated to resolve women related issues and discriminatory laws in this regard would be brought to an end.
She said that party is supporting Co-Chairman of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari for the office of Prime Minister and if Mr. Zardari nominates any other leader of the party for the slot than the party would also support the nomination.
